BANNER ELK, NC – Lees-McRae College defeated Francis Marion University 4-1, Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 8) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis play
 
Francis Marion drops to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.  The Patriots will play at King University in Bristol, Tenn., on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.
 
Tuesday's match with the Bobcats was moved indoors due to cold weather in the North Carolina mountains.  The two squads played the singles matches first and stopped when a winner was decided.
 
Lees-McRae took a 1-0 lead after a straight-sets win at the No.2 singles position.  The advantage grew to 2-0 when the Bobcats claimed a three-set win at the top spot.
 
FMU senior Harri Lloyd-Evans claimed his team-leading 10th singles victory of the season with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at the No.3 position, and drew FMU to within 2-1.
 
However, the Bobcats captured straight-set wins at No.4 and No.5 singles to end the abbreviated match.
