SPARTANBURG, SC – Francis Marion University's acrobatics and tumbling team fell 241.250-196.510 to Coker University and 228.920-196.510 to Converse University in a Conference Carolinas tri-meet on Saturday afternoon (March 15).
Francis Marion will host Morgan State University on Wednesday (March 19) at 7:30 p.m.
Event 1 – Compulsory
Francis Marion tallied its best scores during the Pyramid and Toss heats with scores of 9.05 and 8.90. The Patriots scored a cumulative total of 28.30 points, while the Cobras scored 33.90 and the Valkyries tallied 34.40.
Event 2 – Acro
The three heats of Acro (5 element, 6 element, and 7 element) tallied 20.60/ out of a possible 28.650 to give Francis Marion a running total of 48.900.
Converse continued to edge Coker by a score of 59.400-59.100 after finishing Acro.
Event 3 – Pyramid
Francis Marion registered a total of 22.300 (out of a possible 29.40) during Pyramid, Heat one (inversion) totaling 7.90 out of 9.80 points. Heat two and three scored another 14.40.
Converse barely held on to the slim 87.700-87.600 margin over Coker and 87.700-71.200 to lead Francis Marion going into halftime.
Event 4 – Toss
Heat one (450 Salto) recorded the best score for FMU during toss as the Patriots earned a 7.75 out of a possible 9.10. Heat two (Synchronized) and heat three (Open) combined for an additional 13.800 points.
Coker was able to edge out Converse 113.900-112.850 during Toss, scoring a total of 27.60 compared to Converse's 25.150. Coker also led Francis Marion 113.900-92.750.
Event 5 – Tumbling
In the individual passes during tumbling, the Open pass scored 8.075 out of a possible 8.750, while the Aeriel pass listed 8.050 out of a possible 8.700. The Patriots scored 25.475 in the remaining passes to total 41.600 during tumbling.
Coker widened the lead over Converse to 163.500-158.550 as Francis Marion trailed with a running total of 134.350.
Event 6 – Team Event
Out of a possible 93.060, Francis Marion scored 62.160 for a running total of 196.510.
Coker scored 77.750 points as Converse scored 70.370 to finish the team event.
