WINGATE, NC – Francis Marion University's Acrobatics & Tumbling Team was defeated 238.805-209.320 by Wingate University on Thursday (Feb. 13) afternoon.
The Patriots (0-2) return to the mats on Friday (Feb. 26) afternoon to host Belmont Abbey College at 6 p.m.
Beginning with the Compulsory event, Francis Marion scored 6.750 points out of 10.0 points in the Acro heat. The Pyramid and Toss heats combined for 18.600 points.

Wingate (2-1) tallied 35.100 points during Compulsory to lead Francis Marion 35.100-30.550.

Nikita Yessen registered 6.600 points. The Patriots finished the Acro event with a total of 20.300 points to trail Wingate by a running total of 61.550-50.850.

Francis Marion also scored 8.20 points for Heat two (Synchronized) and 9.250 points for Heat three (Open) while Wingate accumulated 27.500 points during Pyramid.
Francis Marion trailed Wingate 89.100-76.450 before the teams entered halftime.
During the Toss event, Heat one (450 Salto) and Heat two (Synchronized) combined for 15.150 points. Gaither, Hankinson, Yessen, sophomore base

Janae Carr performed in Heat three (Open) for an additional 9.250 points.
By the end of Toss, Wingate led 114.000-100.050.
Hines and Gaither completed their duo tumbling pass to score 7.600 with a start value of 8.750. In the aerial pass, Gaither also recorded 7.925 out of 8.700 while Keve totaled 7.475 points in the six element pass.
The Patriots scored a combined total of 42.850 points in the Tumbling event in comparison to the Bulldog's 47.175 points.
In the final event of the meet, Francis Marion added another 66.420 points out of 93.370 after Team event and fell short of Wingate's 77.680.
