Two Francis Marion University men's soccer players – senior defender

Antonio Garda – have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the Southeast Region of NCAA Division II.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Guevara, a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, owns a 3.512 cumulative grade point average as a finance major and earns the honor for the second consecutive year.
He is a three-year starter, a two-time All-Conference selection (first team in 2025, third team in 2024), and a two-time All-Region honoree. He was also named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week once during the 2025 season.
He played all but 63 minutes this season and helped anchor a defensive that allowed only 15 goals in 17 matches (0.882 goals against average is second in the conference and 21st in NCAA Division II) and only 3.5 shots on goal per match. He was also instrumental in a defense that posted six shutouts. He scored one goal, a match-winner in a road win at Ferrum College.
He is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma national college athlete honor society, earned a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award for both 2024 and 2025, and has been placed on the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll four times and the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll three times.
Garda, a native of A Coruna, Spain, is part of the University's MBA program and owns a 3.636 GPA.
He is a two-time All-Conference selection (first team in 2025, third team in 2024) and earned All-Region honors for 2025. He registered 36 shots, with 18 on goal, scored five goals – including two match-winners – and recorded four assists. He was second on the team with 14 points.
He was named the conference's Player of the Week once this season, and ranked third in the conference in shot accuracy (.500) and fourth in shots on goal per match (1.29).
The pair guided Francis Marion to an 8-4-5 record, the conference's East Division championship, and the top seed in the conference tournament.
Guevara is a product of Unidad Educativa Particular Javier, while Garda is a graduate of Dominicos.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
