Martin Barbera and
Harri Lloyd-Evans each contributed a pair of wins to lead Francis Marion University past Chowan University 7-0, Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 9) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis play.

Francis Marion improves to 8-6 overall and evens its conference slate at 2-2. The Patriots will host a pair of matches this weekend: Lees-McRae College for Senior Day on Friday at 1 p.m. and King University (Tenn.) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played on the Kassab Courts on the FMU campus and admission is free.

FMU claimed the doubles point and a 1-0 early lead when Lloyd-Evans and sophomore
Pedro Caro won 6-0 at the No.3 position and Barbera and senior
Leonel Gonzalez were victorious 6-3 at the top spot.

As singles play began, the Patriots went ahead 2-0 with a default win at No.6 singles. Junior
Luis Lopez Sarasa earned a straight-sets 6-0, 6-0 win at the No.5 spot and Gonzalez picked up the match-clinching point with a 6-4, retirement win at No.3 singles.

Ben Scott (6-2, 6-0) accounted for the other three points with wins at positions No.2, No.1, and No.4 respectively.
