Francis Marion University freshman right-handed pitcher
Jenna Walling has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for the period of Feb. 20-26.
Walling, a 5-6 native of Johns Island, S.C., tossed 6.1 shutout innings in her only start of the week – a 5-1 win over West Liberty University. She allowed only two singles, no runs, walked two, and struck out two.
For the season, she remains unbeaten in her young career at 8-0 with a 2.98 earned run average. She has posted five complete games and fanned 29 batters in 49.1 innings with opponents batting only .267 against her.
She leads the conference in wins, starts, and innings pitched and ranks eighth in strikeouts.
Francis Marion is off to a 14-2 start and has won its last six games. The Patriots will host a pair of home doubleheaders this week: Thursday against Georgian Court University at 4 p.m. and Saturday against Chestnut Hill College at 1 p.m.

Walling is a graduate of First Baptist School.
