SPARTANBURG, SC – Converse University captured a three-set win at No.4 singles to edge 38th-ranked Francis Marion University 4-3, Saturday afternoon (April 9) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action.
Francis Marion (10-4, 4-2) will play its final home match of 2022 on Wednesday at 2 p.m. when the Patriots entertain Barton College on the Kassab Courts.
Despite a 6-1 victory at No.3. doubles by FMU sophomore
Adam Ernberg and freshman
Luis Lopez Sarasa, Converse picked up the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-1) win in a tiebreaker at the No.2 position.
Patriot sophomore
Leonel Gonzalez evened the match at 1-1 with a 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 win at No.3 singles. The Valkyries earned a three-set win at the No.1 position, but Lopez Sarasa captured a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 decision at No.5 to again even the match at 2-2.
FMU freshman
Harri Lloyd-Evans was victorious 7-5, 6-0 at the No.2 spot, but Converse won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No.6 and in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) at No.4 to rally for the win.
