FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men's tennis team, ranked 33rd nationally in the latest rankings, swept to its 10th consecutive win on Saturday (April 2) with a 7-0 blanking of King University (Tenn.) in Conference Carolinas action. 
 
FMU improves to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play, and remains one of only two squads still unbeaten in the conference.  Francis Marion will play at Belmont Abbey College, the other unbeaten squad, on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
 
The 10-match winning streak is the longest for the Patriot program since the 2006 squad posted 15 consecutive victories.
 
Francis Marion swept all three doubles contests to take a 1-0 advantage.  Sophomore Adam Ernberg and freshman Luis Lopez Sarasa won 6-2 at No.3, sophomores Liam Day and Leonel Gonzalez were victorious 6-4 at No.1, and freshmen Martin Barbera and Harri Lloyd-Evans won 7-6 (7-4) at No.2.  Day and Gonzalez improve their season mark to 11-0.
 
In singles play, Barbera put FMU up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No.4 position.  Gonzalez followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No.3 spot and Day provided the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the top rung.  Day runs his season record to 10-1.
 
The remaining singles points came from Lloyd-Evans (7-5, 6-4) at No.2, Lopez Sarasa (6-1, 6-3) at No.5, and Ernberg (6-0, retired) at No.6.  Lloyd-Evans remains unbeaten in singles play at 10-0 this season.
