FLORENCE, SC -- Junior Rachel Davis was dealing on Saturday, throwing a four-hit shutout to lead the Francis Marion Patriots past the Bloomsburg (PA) Huskies 8-0.

Davis (2-0) went the distance for Francis Marion (6-6), giving up four hits, walking none, and striking out two.

Junior first baseman Savana Rosson led the way offensively for the Patriots, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Graduate student center fielder NaJah Gerrald put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 3-for-3 with a double, while senior left fielder Danielle Karacson went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Patriots took the lead for good in the first on an RBI single from Karacson that scored senior third baseman Ashtyn Patterson from second base.  Francis Marion tacked on two runs in the third -- on Rosson's two-run homer to left -- to go up 3-0.  Three runs scored in the fourth on a Bloomsburg error and then in the fifth, junior shortstop Megan Matsil doubled home a run and later scored on a wild pitch.
