FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men's tennis teams closed out its home schedule on Sunday (April 11) with a 5-2 Peach Belt Conference loss to Flagler College.
 
FMU will conclude its 2021 season with a road match at Georgia College on Friday at 2 p.m.
 
Flagler (6-8, 3-1) earned a quick 6-0 victory at No.3 doubles before FMU freshmen Adam Ernberg and Leonel Gonzalez captured a 7-5 win at the No.2 spot.  The doubles point went the way of the Saints after a hard-fought 7-6 (9-7 tiebreaker) decision at the top spot.
 
In singles play, Patriot freshman Joshua Schaefer was victorious 6-2, 6-2 at the No.6 position, while senior William Anth-Forsberg rallied for a 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-5) victory at No.2 singles.  FMU senior Mauricio Guerrero, who along with Anth-Forsberg, was playing his final home match on the Kassab Courts, put up a valiant fight at No.1 singles before falling 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 to 23rd-ranked Nikita Tatyanin.
