WINGATE, NC – Sophomore Christian England led the Francis Marion University men's cross country team to a 13th-place finish at the 10th-annual Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University on Saturday (Sept. 21), while senior Andrea Liddell paced the Patriot women to a 17th-place showing.
England placed 75th in the men's 8,000-meter race that featured 19 teams. He registered a personal-best time of 29:38. Senior Ivan Henderson was the second FMU runner as he finished 77th in a time of 29:40.91.
Other Patriot finishers were sophomore Wyatt Witman (personal-best 30:08.30) in 84th position, sophomore Parker Calvert (30:53.95) in 93rd, freshman Thomas Allen (35:10.84) in 125th, sophomore Anthony Melo (35:13.69) in 126th, and senior Robert Hahn (39:58.21) in 139th.
Liddell toured the 6,000-meter women's course in a time of 26:54.49 to finish in 74th place.
Freshman Angela Kasitz was the second Patriot finisher as she placed 87th in a time of 27:25.97. Other FMU runners were senior Alison Filer (31:08.23) in 118th, senior Emma Driggers (32:24.33) in 123rd, senior Alexis Byers (33:58.07) in 128th, freshman Sarah Driggers (35:22.47) in 133rd, and freshman Artiana Andrews (36:50.63) in 136th.
The University of Mount Olive captured the men's team title with a score of 24, while the host Wingate women earned the team title with a 53 score.
The Francis Marion runners will return to action on Oct. 5 at the Charleston Classic on Johns Island, S.C.
