YOUNG HARRIS, GA – Young Harris College pitching held Francis Marion University to a single run in each game as the Mountain Lions swept a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader from the Patriots, winning 3-1 and 6-1 on Sunday afternoon (March 18).

Francis Marion (13-15, 1-5) will play a twinbill at Erskine College on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. The next home games for the Patriots will be a pair of games against Fayetteville State University on March 23 at 3 p.m.

Patriot shortstop Taylor Johnson had a hit in each game, while sophomore designated player Shania Domingue went 2-for-3 in game two.

In the opener, Young Harris scored its three runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a two-run homer by designated player Grace Botti.

FMU cut the deficit to 3-1 when junior first baseman Jessica Harney plated Johnson with a run-scoring single to right field in the fifth frame.  The Patriots also stranded two runners that inning.

Patriot sophomore right-hander Sydney Holland (8-9) took the loss as she surrendered three runs on six hits, while striking out eight.

In game two, Young Harris scored twice in the bottom of the first and never trailed.  Francis Marion trimmed the Mountain Lion advantage to 3-1 in the third when freshman right-handed pitcher Reece Davis delivered a two-out run-scoring single to right field.

After Young Harris scored a run in its half of the third inning to restore its 3-run margin at 4-1, the Patriots stranded a pair of runners on base in the fourth inning.

Davis (5-5) was tagged with the loss as she allowed all six runs (five earned) on nine hits.  She struck out two batters.

Right fielder Hannah Harrison was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two driven in for Young Harris in the second contest.

Dharma Rosbrugh (12-4) was credited with the win in both games for Young Harris.
