LAURINBURG, NC – Freshman catcher Krissy Longstreet recorded three doubles and a home run and Francis Marion University smacked four round-trippers altogether during a non-conference doubleheader sweep of St. Andrews University on Wednesday afternoon (March 14).  The Patriots won the opener 11-2 in six innings and the second contest 9-1 in five innings.

FMU has now won 11 of 12 and improves to 22-8 overall, only two wins shy of last year's season total.  The Patriots will play a non-conference doubleheader at Barton College on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Longstreet had a pinch-hit RBI double in game one as Francis Marion scored 10 combined runs in the fifth and sixth frames to rally from a 2-1 deficit.  Sophomore righty Taylor Luff (6-2) picked up the win in relief.  She threw 4.1 hitless innings and fanned eight Knight batters, while helping her own cause with an RBI double at the plate.

Senior second baseman Ashley Jaramillo was a perfect 4-for-4 with a three-run homer and five total RBIs.  Junior third baseman Tristan Faile was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs batted in.  Senior center fielder Destinea Schneider and sophomore designated player Carson Summersett were both 2-for-4 with an RBI and sophomore shortstop Lindsey  Brown was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

In the second game, the Patriots scored six runs in the top of the first inning.  Longstreet highlighted the frame with a 2-run double.  Faile hit a 2-run homer in the fourth and Longstreet added a solo shot in the fifth to complete the scoring.

Longstreet was 3-for-3, while sophomore outfielder Sara Broderick, Schneider, Faile, and Summersett all rapped out two hits apiece.

Senior right-hander Kayla Ellingsen (7-3) tossed a six-hitter and allowed just one run, while striking out six against no walks.
