FLORENCE, SC – Senior right-hander Cea Knox pitched a five-inning no-hitter and junior righty Kayla Ellingsen followed with a four-hit shutout in game two as Francis Marion University swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, winning 15-0 and 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon (March 9). 

Francis Marion improves to 15-6-1 and will next host its annual Patriot Invitational Tournament on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Freedom Florence.  The Patriots will play two games each of the three days.  St. Andrews falls to 2-15.

Knox (9-3) allowed only one base runner – a fourth-inning walk – as FMU cruised to a 15-0 win in game one.  The Patriots scored four runs in each of the first two innings.

Freshman shortstop Lindsey Brown was a perfect 2-for-2 with a triple and four runs scored, while sophomore Tristan Faile was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and one run scored.  Junior second baseman Ashley Jaramillo was 1-for-2 with four runs scored and three RBIs.

Junior right-hander Ashley Disque (2-14) was the losing pitcher.

In game two, Ellingsen (5-2) struck out five and walked no one.

Junior center fielder Destinea Schneider was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.  Freshman designated player Tricia Sizemore was 2-for-3, including her first collegiate hit, and she scored twice.

Jaramillo had a two-run double in the first inning of the second contest.

Junior catcher Lex Cowger was 2-for-3 to lead St. Andrews in game two, while freshman Natalie Whitman (0-1) was the losing pitcher.  Tiffany Harris had a double for the Lady Knights in the second contest.
