Freshman Sara Broderick drove in two runs with a pair of bases-loaded walks and junior right-hander Kayla Ellingsen twirled a four-hit shutout as Francis Marion University beat Barton College 3-0, Sunday afternoon (March 13) in FMU's final game of the 2011 Patriot Invitational Softball Tournament at Freedom Florence.

Francis Marion (17-10-1) scored single runs in the second, third, and sixth innings.  In addition to Broderick's RBIs in the second and sixth frames, senior left fielder Chelle Phillips led off the third inning with a single, stole second base, advanced to third on a passed ball, and then scored on a second passed ball.

Phillips ended the game 2-for-4.  First baseman Megann Sallinger had the only other Patriot base hit.

Ellingsen (7-3) struck out two and walked only one.
