Box Score 2 PEMBROKE, NC - Senior first baseman Tamela Bell collected three
hits to lead a 14-hit Patriot attack as ninth-ranked Francis Marion
University pounded out a 13-7 game-two win over UNC Pembroke on
Wednesday evening (March 11) to salvage a split of their Peach Belt
Conference doubleheader. UNCP took advantage of three FMU
errors in the opener to claim a 3-2 victory.
Francis Marion is now 19-6 overall and 3-3 in the PBC, while
UNCP is 14-16 and 5-3.
FMU will host 18th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne College for a
non-conference doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Junior left-hander Michaela Wolf (11-4) pitched both games for
FMU. All three of the runs she surrendered in the opener were
unearned. She drove in the two Patriot runs in game one with
a first-inning single to right and a fifth-inning ground out to
second base.
Bell was 3-for-5 in game two with a double, a run scored, and
two RBIs. Shannan Tyson, Lakyn Bendle, Ashley Jaramillo, and
Wolf all had two hits. Jaramillo, a freshman second baseman, also
scored twice and drove in three.
FMU broke open a one-run game (6-5) in the top of the seventh
inning by sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring seven times.
