FLORENCE, SC - Senior shortstop Shannan Tyson and junior third baseman Kat Beauvais each collected four hits and drove in three runs as fifth-ranked Francis Marion University swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Tusculum College 5-0 and 9-1, Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 10).

FMU (7-0) plays a doubleheader at Limestone College on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Tusculum falls to 2-2.

Junior left-handed pitcher Michaela Wolf (4-0) tossed a one-hitter in the first game, as she struck out six and walked no one.

Beauvais had a pair of hits and two runs batted in, while freshman second baseman Ashley Jaramillo, junior left fielder Jessica Birchmeier, and Tyson each had two hits and an RBI.  Wolf also added two hits at the plate.

Junior righty Holli Cadenhead (1-1) took the loss for the Pioneers.  Third baseman Jessica McKee's line-drive single to center in the sixth inning was the lone Tusculum hit.

In game two, FMU junior right-hander Katie Campbell (2-0) made her first home start and allowed only four hits and one unearned run in the first frame.

Francis Marion trailed 1-0 entering the fourth inning, but plated five runs in that frame and added four more in the fifth to halt the game via the eight-run rule.

Beauvais again had two hits, including a triple, and drove in one run.  Tyson had two hits and two RBIs, while senior center fielder Lakyn Bendle had a two-run single.

Sophomore righty Alyssa Hansen (1-1) was tagged with the loss, although only two of the five runs she surrendered were earned.  Lead-off batter Taylor MacDonald singled to open the game and came around to score the Pioneers' run on a two-error.
