RALEIGH, NC – Freshman Mark Goodall shot a final-round 75 as Francis Marion University finished 14th at the season-ending Wolfpack Spring Open Golf Tournament.
The 54-hole event was hosted by N.C. State University on the par 71 Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
The host Wolfpack led after every round and captured the team title by 13 strokes over second-place Clemson University (821-834). Duke University rallied over the final 18 holes to place third with an 849 tally, while the University of South Florida (850) and the University of Maryland (851) rounded out the Top 5.
The Patriots were 12th after the opening round (292), tied for 14th after the second round (302), and alone in 14th after Saturday's final round of 304 for a 54-hole total of 898.
Junior Alessandro Caselli carded a final-round 76 to finish in a tie for 54th position at 222, while junior Callum McGuigan also shot 76 to place 63rd with a 224 total. Sophomore Lars Sandvoll registered a 77 on Saturday to tie for 64th position at 225, while Goodall finished in a tie for 70th with a 227 tally. Junior Marc Casullo withdrew with an injury after firing an open-round 76 on Friday.
Nolan Mills of N.C. State earned medalist honors as he shot a final-round 67 to finish at 13-under-par 200.
The tournament concludes the Patriots' 2016-17 schedule. FMU did not list a senior on this year's roster.
