RALEIGH, NC – Junior Alessandro Caselli shot rounds of 71 and 75 on Friday (April 14) to lead the Francis Marion University contingent at the Wolfpack Spring Open Golf Tournament.
The 54-hole event is being hosted by N.C. State University at the par 71 Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. The final round will be held on Saturday.
The host Wolfpack leads the team standings with a 543 tally, two strokes ahead of second-place Clemson University (545). UNC Wilmington (556) is third, followed by UNC Greensboro (557) and the University of Maryland (558) to round out the Top 5.
FMU was 12th after a 292 round on Friday morning and followed that with a 302 afternoon score to stand in a tie for 14th position.
Caselli is tied for 46th place in the players' standings with his four-over total. Junior Callum McGuigan (72-76=148) and sophomore Lars Sandvoll (74-74=148) are among a group tied for 55th position, while freshman Mark Goodall (75-77=152) is tied for 77th. Junior Marc Casullo shot an open-round 76 and then had to retire for the day with an injury.
Jonathan Brightwell of UNCG leads the players' standings with a 67-63=130 scorecard.
