ATHENS, GA – Junior Marc Casullo led the five Francis Marion University golfers on Monday (March 13) as the Patriots finished 14th at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships hosted by the University of Georgia.
The one-day 36-hole tournament was played at the par 72 Athens Country Club.
Lipscomb University rallied from a five-stroke deficit over the final 18 holes to capture the team title with a 285-279=564 scorecard. Florida State University (567) placed second, followed by the University of Oklahoma (568), University of Arkansas (571), and Kennesaw State University (573) rounding out the Top 5.
The Patriots tallied a 327 score during the morning round and a 306 score during the afternoon round for a tournament total of 633.
Casullo fired rounds of 79 and 76 to finished tied for 61st with a 155 36-hole total. Junior Callum McGuigan (78-78=156) tied for 65th position, while sophomore Lars Sandvoll (87-72=159) tied for 74th, junior Alessandro Caselli (85-80=165) tied for 84th, and freshman Haakon Andersen (85-81=166) tied for 87th place.
Jake Fendt of Kennesaw State earned medalist honors with a seven-under-par 68-69=137 scorecard.
Francis Marion will next play in the Furman University Intercollegiate Tournament, March 24-26, in Greenville.
