YOUNG HARRIS, GA – Young Harris College scored three times in each of the first three innings and cruised to a 12-0 win over 21st-ranked Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (March 18) in Peach Belt Conference baseball action.
Francis Marion (19-7 overall, 3-5 in the PBC) and Young Harris (8-13, 3-5) will play the final game of their three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Young Harris junior left-hander Hudson Graham (1-2) limited FMU to three singles in 7.2 innings of work, while fanning three.
Patriot junior right fielder Zach Paquette did have a fifth-inning single to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, while also extending his streak of safely reaching base to 19 consecutive contests. Senior catcher Logan Koch and junior first baseman Tee DuBose had the other FMU hits.
Francis Marion freshman southpaw Garrett Wilson (4-2) was tagged with the loss as he surrendered six runs (only three were earned) on 10 hits.
Mountain Lion left fielder Rudy Gaona was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two driven in, while third baseman Zach Beggs was 2-for-6 with a homer, two runs scored, and three RBIs.
