FMU Basketball hosts 4 games in 5 days

The Francis Marion University men's and women's basketball teams will play a total of four home contests in five days to open the 2018 New Year.

The two squads will host Clayton State University on Saturday, Jan. 6, for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader.  The women's game will tip-off at 1:30 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 3:30 p.m.

The Patriot men were to have played their final non-conference game of the season against St. Andrews University on Monday (Jan. 8), but that game has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts caused by this week's winter storm.

Both FMU squads will return to the Smith University Center court on Wednesday, Jan. 10, when they host long-time rival Lander University for a PBC twinbill.  The women's game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the men's contrest at 7:30 p.m.

General admission for all home basketball events is $8 for adults and $5 for students (FMU students are admitted free with ID).

The Patriot women are 7-3 overall mark and 4-1 in conference play, tying them for third place only one game out of the conference lead.

The 23rd-ranked FMU men have won eight of their first 10 games and are tied for fourth place in the conference with a 3-2 mark, but are only one game out of first place.

FMU senior guard Detrek Browning will be looking to break the Patriot career scoring record on Saturday against Clayton State as the Columbia native stands only 11 points behind Carlton Farr's program-record 1,863 total.
